As an up-and-coming influencer, I've learned that building a brand isn't easy, especially when you're not yet a household name. I still have moments where I feel unknown, and my most desired brands haven't recognized me... yet. However, I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had with amazing brands like Miller, Chicken Licken, Dark & Lovely, DanUp, and more.

The Thrill of Collaboration

I still get butterflies remembering my first blog invite from Bain's Whiskey. It felt like being a celebrity! Since then, I've been fortunate enough to attend incredible events, like Kelly Khumalo's concert, and receive amazing goodie bags (who doesn't love freebies?). These experiences not only boost my confidence but also remind me that my hard work is paying off.

Overcoming Envy and Comparison

Initially, I'd envy established influencers like Mihlali, Lasizwe, and Kamo WW. Their success and brand recognition seemed unattainable. But then I realized:

"They're running their own race, and I'm running mine."

Comparing myself to others only hindered my progress. Instead, I focused on:

- Developing my unique voice and style

Creating quality content that resonates with my audience

- Building meaningful relationships with my followers

Lessons Learned

As I continue to grow my brand, I've learned valuable lessons:

  1. Start now and be consistent: Building a brand takes time, effort, and perseverance. Don't wait for the perfect moment; start now and keep pushing..
  2. Stay in your lane: Focus on your unique strengths and style, and you'll attract your desired brands.
  3. Usuality content is key: Invest in producing high-quality content, whether videos or pictures. It's essential for grabbing attention and building credibility.
  4. Research and ask questions: Understand your niche, target audience, and brand partners. Don't be afraid to ask questions or seek guidance.

My Goals and Aspiration

I dream of collaborating with big brands like Nike, The Fix, and Mr. Price. While it may take time, I'm committed to consistency and quality. My goal is to become a respected influencer, known for my authenticity and unique perspective.

To Fellow Influencers

If you're just starting out or struggling to make a name for yourself, remember:

- Your journey is unique, and comparisons will only hold you back.

- Focus on creating exceptional content that showcases your personality and expertise.

- Engage with your audience, and build meaningful relationships.

- Stay patient, persistent, and true to yourself.

Building a brand as an influencer requires dedication, resilience, and creativity. While it's not easy, the rewards are worth it. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had, and I'm excited for what's to come.

Thank you for reading. Can't wait to share more with you

As I sit down to reflect on my life lately, I'm met with a mix of emotions - sadness, gratitude, hope, and renewal. The past few months have been a rollercoaster, filled with challenges, triumphs, and transformative moments.

Loss and Grief

I recently lost my beloved grandma, and the pain still lingers. Her absence has left a void in my life, and some days feel heavier than others. Grieving is a process, and I'm learning to navigate the ups and downs. I cherish the memories we shared and find solace in the thought that her love will always be with me.

Self-Care and Growth

After being bullied about my weight, I struggled to find confidence in my body. But I've come to realize that my worth extends far beyond physical appearance. I've gained a bit of weight, and while it's still a journey, I'm focusing on self-care and self-love. I'm embracing my curves and working towards a healthier, happier me.

Love and Relationships

Being single can be daunting, especially when surrounded by coupled-up friends. But I'm taking time to focus on myself, figuring out what I want and need in a partner. I've closed the chapter on a toxic relationship with a closeted bisexual boyfriend who treated me poorly. It was liberating to walk away and prioritize my own well-being.

New Horizons

On a brighter note, I've been going out more often, exploring new places, and meeting incredible people. My work as an influencer has taken off, and I'm thrilled to collaborate with amazing brands like Milo, Miller, Chicken Licken, Sunlight, and Dark & Lovely. These partnerships have not only boosted my confidence but also opened doors to exciting opportunities.

Healing and Reflection

Despite the progress, I'm still healing from past traumas and heartbreak. It's a journey, and some days are tougher than others. However, I'm slowly accepting that the past is indeed a closed chapter. The future, on the other hand, is wide open, waiting to be filled with new experiences, laughter, and adventure.

The Road Ahead

As I look to the future, I'm filled with hope and anticipation. I'm ready to:

- Continue nurturing my physical and mental well-being

- Explore new connections and meaningful relationships

- Grow my influencer career and collaborate with inspiring brands

- Embrace the unknown and welcome new opportunities

Life lately has been a complex tapestry of emotions, but I'm choosing to focus on the beauty and growth. I'm grateful for the lessons learned, the loved ones who remain, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

To anyone reading this

Remember that you're not alone in your struggles. Healing takes time, and growth is a journey. Be kind to yourself, celebrate your victories, and know that the future holds endless possibilities.

In the vibrant streets of Chiawelo, a young Thendo Davhana was inspired by his mother and local brands like Kwaal to pursue his passion for fashion. Today, he's the founder of "Underrated", a clothing brand that's making waves in the industry.

Thendo's brand is a tribute to hard workers and talented individuals who often go unnoticed. "I want to give credit where credit is due and celebrate those who deserve it," he says. His slogan, "Get rich or die trying", is a call to action, driving people to work hard and never give up.

"Underrated" is more than just a clothing line - it's a lifestyle. Thendo's brand is unique, motivating, and authentic, making it a favorite among young entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts alike.

Thendo's journey hasn't been without its challenges, but he's learned some valuable lessons along the way. "Discipline and consistency are key," he says. "Quality customer service gets you more clients through referrals." He's also learned to stay true to his vision while adapting to changing trends and consumer preferences.

Thendo's a giver, and he's passionate about giving back to his community. He's started a pad drive, done door-to-door donations, and is always looking for ways to make a positive impact. "Giving back is important to me," he says.

Thendo's got big plans for "Underrated", including colognes, perfumes, and a gin. He sees his brand going international, collaborating with Nike, and creating employment for the youth. "I hope to leave a legacy that inspires others to hustle and work hard," he says.

When he's not running his brand, Thendo loves to relax with some music and good food. He's a fan of deep house music and food like  lamb and pap, and he's always looking for new ways to express himself creatively. As a taurus, he's kind, caring, and determined, and he looks up to role models like Morda Bongs.

Thendo Davhana's story is a testament to hard work, determination, and staying true to your vision. "Underrated" is more than just a clothing brand - it's a movement, a lifestyle, a call to action. So, what are you waiting for? Join the "Underrated" movement and let's hustle together!
