A Peaceful March For #JusticeForAmaGents In Senaoane
Yesterday was a very emotional day, we embarked on a march to fight for justice
for the two young men who were killed early Monday over gun violence and
I must say, yes, the march was peaceful and beautiful but it was
also an emotional wreck because tears couldn't stop pouring in view of the
fact that we just couldn't stop crying of the pain that touched us as we remembered
these young soldiers with good music and headed to Moroka Police Station to ask for justice.
We hope our cries were heard as the community of Senaoane came in numbers to
support the movement and also grieve with the family through these hard times of loss.
Crime in Soweto just can't stop skyrocketing. In the early hours on Monday (April 5th),
two young boys from Senaoane in Soweto were gunned down to death by unknown
criminal and I feel like it's not gonna end soon because many people own guns like
they're toys in our community.
What started as Mogodu Monday, a weekly occasion where people celebrate
the most unpopular day of the week with the traditional Mogodu, music and alcohol,
ended in tears when it was revealed that two young boys (Sibusiso & Sphelele)
met up with lowlife criminals on their way back home and unfortunately
both lost their lives as they were shot and died instantly on the spot.
Nobody knows how the whole scenario went about but they didn't
deserve to die at such a young age. I'm just feeling for family and friends
who got to witness such a terrible experience and lose a member of their
family at such an unexpected moment.
Murders in South Africa remain high, with a 1.4% increase in 2019/20,
to 21,325 reported cases. This works out to 58 people murdered in the country every day.
Most of these case go cold and unsolved due to incompetence of the
police force in South Africa.
It's heartbreaking when it happens to someone you've know your whole life and
had contact with just a few hours ago and then boom, you hear that they're no more.
They had dreams to fulfill and family to make proud. My heart is not at ease when
cases like this happen very close to where you're based, it's very sad. I don't think
anyone close to these boys will ever find closure because this tragedy is not one
that you can just easily heal or move on from, they were in their early 20s,
very young to face death like this. May their soul rest in peace, young heroes!
Condolences to their family and friends!
