Noxolo Grootboom Reads The News For The Last Time Tonigt
Growing up, I've never been a fan of news but I knew that at 7pm SABC news will
be tuned in for my family to watch. Noxolo Grootboom was one of the key newsreader
that would end every episode of the news with "Ndinithanda Nonke Emakhay" and honestly,
that stayed with me forever, I never stopped loving her. Though I didn't enjoy the news
but her speaking and anchoring the news was just good to watch.
After 37 years of service, the Veteran SABC news anchor is retiring.
I was busy scrolling on twitter as I find #NoxoloGrootboomDay trending today,
people were celebrating her excellent services to SA television.
Today she will be reading the news for the last time. The whole of Mzansi will
be watching at 7pm. She first joined SABC news as a typist and later she
was transferred to the newsroom which made her the Veteran that she is to-date.
Her career had so many highlights over the years, that includes her presenting
the funeral of Nelson Mandela in 2013, she also read the obituary of the
late Akhumzi Jezile and was also requested to anchor the funeral proceedings
for former students first lady Winnie Madikizela Mandela back in 2018.
Many people around the country will remember for her signature phrase
"Ndinithanda Nonke Emakhaya". Don't miss her final broadcast
tonight at 7pm on SABC 1.
See you again!
